The Rajasthan Government along with FICCI had organized a Global Agri meet held in Jaipur from 09-11 November 2016. The event brought together all stakeholders – farmers, academicians, technologists, agribusiness companies and policy makers – to accelerate development of sustainable agricultural and allied activities through innovative methods and best practices. Inaugurated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Shrimati Vasundhara Raje and guest of Honor Baba Ramdev along with Governor of Rajasthan and Agriculture Minister of Rajasthan.
The 3 day event was supported by ongoing exhibition and conferences side by side. It was a complete package of knowledge and practical demonstration of newest technologies in sectors of Agriculture, Horticulture, Plasticulture, Irrigation, Protected Cultivation, Organic Farming, Animal Husbandry, Dairy etc. Not only these it also focused on Post Harvest technologies and Agri processing units.
Apart from sustainable Agriculture development, Protected Cultivation, Drip irrigation and Dairy & Sustainable livelihood through Animal Husbandry, the conferences also focused on Opportunities for Agri Tourism in Rajasthan and Post Harvest Mangament
Rajasthan Government in collaboration with Israel has proposed 7 Technology Transfer Centers along the state out of which 3 are already operational. These centers will focus on crops like Olive, Pomegranate, Mango etc. It will provide farmers with better planting material, cultivation practices and also focus on Post harvest Management.
In her speech at the closing ceremony Shrimati Vasundhara Raje focused on supporting farmers to grow Pistachio in extreme weather areas, increase Olive cultivation after success in the Pilot Project and putting up date palm processing unit in desert area like Jaisalmer and Bikaner. Other than these, Raje government also plans to invest in citrus fruits, spice seeds and other items to create sustainable means of secondary income.
